Barry Kadechuk was host director for an Open World Event held October 31 to November 8, 2014. Ten visitors participated, from Serbia and Macedonia.

Here are the main activities of the event:

  • Welcome party at Canoe Lodge in Big Canoe.
  • Welcome by John Thompson, General Manager of Big Canoe. Sessions with Len Walker, former state legislator, Larry Toney, representing Republican Party, David Robinson, representing Democrat Party, Rainie Pope, representing Tea Party, Bert Loftman, representing Libertarian Party, and Rick Jasperse, member of Georgia House of Representatives.
  • Presentation by Professor Merle King and Dr. Michael Barnes of Kennesaw State University.
  • Visit to Carter Center.
  • Visit to Atlanta Journal and Constitution newspaper.
  • Visit to polling station in Atlanta.
  • Meeting with Kwanza Hall, Atlanta City Councilman.
  • Visit to Michelle Nunn Headquarters.
  • Visit to Jasper Middle School.
  • Visit to Funk Heritage Center
  • Dinner at Hunsberger/Wileman Home.
  • Visit to Public Broadcasting Atlanta.
  • Visit to CNN.
  • Visit to Center for Human and Civil Rights.
  • Visit to University of North Georgia, with lecture on U. S. Election System by Dr. Delynn Williams.
  • Visit to Creekview High School.
  • Visit to Pickens Middle School.
  • Presentation by TEB Bowman, of Pickens County Republican Party.
  • Farewell dinner at home of Jim and Jean Goggin.
